You end up spending 2 to 3 of your spell slots trying to land any meaningful cc and it can easy be rolled away the very next turn and you have no way to do any damage afterwards. Just doing more damage is way better than having a 40% change to get a stun or hold or fear. Love both games a lot, but I feel like bg3 has such an zeitgeist around it, and most people haven't played larian's other, far superior game. In bg3 your armor just blocks all types of damage. The magic and physical damage shields in divinity also feels very fun to build your teams around and adds such a humungous layer of complexity to your armor, classes, and how you approach specific enemies.

The crowd control feels so impact full whereas in bg3 you just focus on doing damage cause cc has such a low chance of actually landing you will end up spending your spell slots you needed for damage on a 40% chance to land a cc. The combat is dos2 is so much more complex and intense, you aren't just at the mercy of a good or bad dice roll as to whether you will win the fights. It becomes so easy to roll a 25 with the right character for any check. The dice rolls in bg3 feel bad, and abilities to easily pass almost every single one with spammable stuff like guidance makes dialogue checks feel pretty useless. Story is about the same, but the combat in DOS2 is just hands down better in every single way possible.
